Friends, food, farming and fun at Gatheround 2019

Harvest provides us with the opportunity to reflect on what we’ve learned in the past year and plan for the year ahead, and of course, enjoy some of the year’s best food. And we think the best way to do these things is to ‘gatheround’ the table together. So to celebrate harvest, we brought together clients, coworkers, agriculture leaders and friends in our Calgary office to share in food, drink and knowledge at our Gatheround 2019 event.

Alberta family-run farm and market, Sunterra, and their producer partners provided incredible food and shared their experience and expertise with our guests as they moved through different stations featuring the best Western Canada has to offer, including fresh produce, meats, grains and even locally-made gelato.

One of the best things about harvest is the opportunity to share with others. We took snapshots from the event to share with you.

Ray and Glen Price

Ray and Glen Price shared the story of Sunterra, which started as hog farm in Acme, Alberta in 1970

Roasted pumpkin salad with fresh greens and pumpkin seeds

No harvest meal is complete without greens. This pumpkin salad featured Inspired Greens lettuce, Highwood Crossing canola oil and Gull Valley Greenhouse tomatoes.

Dutch immigrant and cheese producer, Jon Schalkwyk, told us how he overcame naysayers to produce globally award-winning cheese, at Sylvan Star Cheese near Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

We learned how to make the perfect pasta carbonara with Soleterra d’Italia Modena Ham, an authentic Italian ham, produced in Acme, Alberta.

The Sunterra pork and roasted vegetables had a hint of sweetness thanks to Calgary’s Drizzle honey.

And dessert! Fresh vanilla bean gelato from Fiasco in Calgary was the perfect complement to Sunterra’s apple pumpkin pie.

Gatheround 2019 brought us some of the highest quality Canadian food, which was only elevated by the company and conversation. Connecting with one another and sharing stories and knowledge is fundamental in building a strong agriculture community focused on moving our industry forward. We’re proud to be part of this community and have you gatheround our table.
