The future is now: Innovation highlights from Ag in Motion
By Chris Forrest with video by Zenon Andryo
As we like to say, in an industry where success is measured by the acre, your ideas had better be big and bold. That mantra was loudly on display in every corner July 16-18 during the fifth annual Ag in Motion outdoor farm expo outside of Saskatoon.
Ag in Motion – AiM for short – is unique as it brings together the very best elements of every great ag show across North America. Owned and operated by Glacier FarmMedia, AiM offers a diverse tradeshow component with 500 exhibitors, 100 acres of live demos and trial plots, big shiny iron on display for tire-kicking, and non-stop professional development and educational streams. The show gets better every year and certainly lives up to its name – everything at AiM is about movement, change, and innovation.
Agriculture has undoubtedly entered an era of high-velocity change, as both exhibitors and farmers alike shared concerns about global trade instability, herbicide resistance, soil health and the race to bring emerging technologies from concept to affordable reality.

Tom Wolf is no stranger to farmers on Twitter. Tom specializes in spray technology research and is endlessly passionate about helping growers maximize their application efforts. In this clip, Tom talks about the role of new technologies like the WEEDit optical sprayer – and how it can help in the battle against herbicide resistance.
Autonomous is synonymous with futuristic thinking in agriculture. Demos of much-buzzed autonomous equipment drew big crowds at the AiM demonstration fields.
